Activity CITs
Our CIT program is generally two summers in length. Activity CITs are advised to come back for a two-week session if possible. All graduating seniors who wish to come back as CITs must apply to be Activity CITs. It is a competitive process, as we only have a limited number of spaces available.
Activity CITs:
- Understand that the experience of being a counselor-in-training is very different from that of being a camper. It entails responsibility, enthusiasm for working with other campers, and an eagerness to learn from camp counselors.
- Attend a training period prior to younger campers arrival, which will orient CITs to what it means to be a counselor
- Eat meals and participate in all-camp activities along with younger campers and counselors
- Live in a bunk with other Activity CITs
- Learn to lead activities (in the activity area(s) of their choice) for younger campers by observing and assisting counselors in group activities
- Help to plan evening activities for the camp
- Attend a daily group meeting facilitated by the CIT coordinator to discuss triumphs, challenges, and questions about learning to lead younger campers, and to receive feedback from seasoned counselors
- Give and receive evaluations of their work along with the CIT coordinator throughout the session
